Design Process
Homeowner’s specific needs will range, and every space presents its own opportunities. Our design process is tailored to meet every client’s unique desires and goals. The steps listed here are meant to be a general guide of what you may expect when we work together to design your home.
Phase 1
Introduction & Onboarding
The first step is to let us know you are interested in working together by clicking the link to schedule a consultation and filling out the questionnaire. You will then be contacted within 2-3 business days to schedule a discovery call, where Victoria will reach out to you directly to elaborate upon the answers you provided.
For remodeling projects and furniture packages for existing homes, a site visit may be scheduled to further understand the scope. For new construction, we will begin to review any architectural plans you have.
Based on the project's needs and scope, we will then prepare a Design Proposal, also known as the Letter of Agreement, to review. Once approved, the real design work begins!
Phase 2
Conceptual / Preliminary Design
After receiving the approved design proposal and retainer, we will start the preliminary design process. This includes things like reviewing inspirational images you may have collected from magazines, Pinterest, etc. In addition, will develop budgetary parameters for furnishings packages, or work with your builder/general contractor to establish/review estimates.
For remodels and furniture packages, an appointment will be made promptly to measure and photograph the space(s) we are addressing. When working on new construction projects, we will review plans from your architect, or refer you to one of our industry partners. Then we pour through our vendor resources to source materials and furnishings designed specifically for you. This process is typically completed within 3-6 weeks. We will schedule an initial presentation to share the design and receive approval to move forward. This meeting typically takes place in person and will include samples of materials, photos of proposed selections, and preliminary sketches or additional concept photos as needed.
Phase 3
Design Development & Specifications / Proposals
Once the initial presentation is approved, we will proceed with producing specifications/proposals as needed.
For full-service clients, this may include but not be limited to; CAD floor plans and elevations, 3D renderings and perspective views, written material specifications with images, material source lists, etc. These construction documents are issued in PDF format. A printed binder can be issued to the client and/or contractor upon request. The time needed for completing specifications varies depending on the size of the space(s) and the level of detail required. At this point, the design is ready to receive final pricing from the builder.
Clients seeking furniture packages will receive formal proposals by room in which each individual item is listed in detail with pricing and deposit requests. This phase is typically completed between 1-2 weeks after the initial design presentation has been approved. Proposals will be emailed in PDF format, along with digital presentation boards and CAD furniture plans as required.
Phase 4
Procurement / Execution
After the specifications are approved by the client and passed on to the builder, the construction process proceeds. The length of this phase is dependent on the builder’s construction schedule. We will be there every step of the way to answer questions via phone, text, email, and in person as needed throughout the construction process. Furniture specification and ordering typically begin 6-8 months prior to the estimated completion of construction (this timeline may be shortened for certain remodeling projects).
For furniture packages, we will generate purchase orders and place orders upon receipt of deposits. You will be advised of estimated lead times and can expect periodic updates along the way. Orders will be tracked and all freight, warehousing/storage, and delivery will be coordinated with our vendors seamlessly. We will reach out to schedule the final delivery of all items (aka the “install”) and any required accessorizing services 4-6 weeks prior to the expected final delivery of all items.
Phase 5
Install / Completion
Once construction is completed the install will take place. Items ordered will be delivered by our white glove receiving partners, who have already carefully inspected each item upon receipt. Installation services for a full home can take anywhere from 2-5 days depending on the size of the home. Individual rooms may be completed in a day or less. Accessorizing services can also take place at this time, where smaller items are brought out to the home to complete the look. The final day of the installation will be the big reveal, with the clients seeing the completed look for the first time.
